The Gospels – Are four first-hand accounts of the life of Jesus
Matthew – One of Jesus’ disciples described as a tax collector
Mark – Mark was probably the scribe for Peter’s telling of the story
Luke – Greek physician and historian
John – Jesus “beloved” disciple
Acts of the Apostles – The story of first-century Jesus followers. Also written by Luke as a continuation of the story from the Gospel of Luke. It also follows the journeys of The Apostle Paul, and the beginning stories of the churches to which the New Testament letters are addressed.
In other words, the other New Testament writings fit into the history of the Book of Acts.
Letters of Paul – Generally written to the churches in the city to which the title refers. The origin of these churches are recorded in the Book of Acts.

Writings by authors other than Paul – Generally assumed to be written by the person bearing the name of the book.
Hebrews – Some scholars attribute Hebrews to Paul, and may belong to the list above.

The actual chronology of these books is based largely on Paul’s journeys as recorded in the Book of Acts. All of these writings were written within the first century after Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.
