God’s Story

Introduction

Why we study God’s Story, and how this journey works

This is a study of God’s Story — the great narrative that runs from Genesis to Revelation. It is the account of God’s redemptive purpose for mankind, unfolding through history, prophecy, and the person of Jesus Christ.

The Bible is not a collection of unrelated books. It is one story with one Author, one theme, and one hero. Every book, every covenant, every sacrifice, and every prophecy points toward the same destination.

General overview

This study is designed to give you the big picture first, then fill in the details. We move through the Old Testament chronologically, tracing the thread of God’s covenant — His binding promise to His people — from Adam to Malachi, and then into the New Testament where every promise finds its fulfillment.

My goal

My goal is not to make you a scholar, but to help you become a reader of the Bible who understands what you are reading and why it matters. The Bible was written for ordinary people. God intended it to be understood.

This is not a classroom

This is not a formal academic course. It is a guided journey through Scripture. You will be encouraged to read the biblical text for yourself, to ask questions, and to let the Holy Spirit be your primary teacher. I am simply a fellow traveler pointing out what I have seen along the way.

Material credits

The outlines and study notes in this series draw from decades of personal study and from the work of faithful teachers who have gone before. Where specific sources are known they are acknowledged. The goal throughout is to let Scripture speak for itself.

A word about the translation

Scripture on these pages is quoted from GOD’S WORD unless the page says otherwise, and every quotation names its translation. Why that one, what is read alongside it, and what happens when the two disagree — with two worked examples — is on Translations.
