I was raised in south-central Pennsylvania on an Amish family farm. My father was my most significant spiritual influence. He was an Amish pastor, and a devout and Godly man. Dad had no formal theological training, however, he was an avid reader, and had a brilliant mind. In addition, he was willing to challenge many of the preconceived ideas, and would willingly engage in challenging conversations.

Growing up on the farm also put me in very close relationship with nature. This proximity to nature deeply informed my worldview, as well as what makes sense to me. The farm taught me how nature works. For me, life and truth needs to fit within that paradigm.

My formal theological education is limited to a Bachelor Degree in Pastoral Counseling, and the study of psychology associated with that degree. However, as taught by my father, I too am an avid reader, and have studied the main faith traditions. I have had the privilege to engage many of those traditions over my years of ministry.

I was commissioned as a lay pastor in my late teens, and ordained as a teacher in a non-denominational church in 1984. Over the years I have served as church planter, elder, pastor, and lay leader in a variety of settings.
